Huge Historical Monument in the middle of the actual Battlefield that gave Texas it's Independence. Plenty of parking and easy access with steps or ramps to get to the 1st floor of the facility. Your entrance fee pays for an elevator trip to the observation deck with views facing north, south, east and west. The museum has so much history and the theatre plays a 35 minute film giving a quick history of the birth of Texas. The theater holds a couple of hundred so definitely can accommodate school trips, family reunions and other large groups. They have a gift shop as well. There is no food on the premises but less than a half mile away is the Monument Inn Restaurant, that has some great local seafood selections as well as other more traditional Southern Specialities from Texas. You'll need at least 2 hours to see everything but could easily be there for four hours. Enjoy!

The exhibits are well-organized and full of interesting artifacts that bring history to life. The staff is friendly, and the facilities are well-maintained. Plan a few hours to explore everything at a relaxed pace.
Dec 22, 2025 · Google ReviewThe under construction reflecting pool needs a swimming pool finish with blue tiles on the bottom with a big Texas state shaped Texas flag, a big white Lone Star in the middle, and an 1836 on the bottom. It would be a more picturesque venue if they planted along the sides of the sidewalk red crepe myrtles in a line, and added Greek style white gazebos with white pillars and picnic tables underneath for scenic meals for visitors. They should nix the overgrown grasses and replace them with fountains and splash pads for toddlers to play in on one side, and on the other side it would be more appropriate to have statues of the Governors of Texas. Screw the plans for prairie grasses and upgrade it to something beautiful.
Aug 29, 2026 · Google ReviewFirst walk in, there's a theater to your right for a 30 minute video that starts now and then. The left is the counter where you pay for admission and entrance to the museum. Straight ahead is the painting room with the elevator that leads to the top. The movie seen here is only shown here. Does a great job explaining the history of events. Bathrooms are in the back with the gift shop. This place is an important piece of Texas history. Everyone I encountered was nice.
