Tookie's Burgers
If you are among those of us who think a great burger is the perfect meal, then Tookie's is the place you want to eat. We still serve the same burgers declared in 2008 to be among the best in Texas and for that matter in America. So you're not a burger fan??? Come on in anyway and join the fun in our vintage 70s setting. Our menu includes grilled chicken for either sandwich or salad and fish just for you. Or you can try our new Turkey Burger and help us decide whether to add it permanently to the menu.

Always a staple anytime i find myself near Kemah, TX. I have never reviewed this spot, probably because of the food coma I self impose when I come here…I have nothing left to give society. The #99 is the bomb! It is the stalwart staple of the American Republic. I have them add Jalapeños because I am a glutton for punishment. But, I can’t count how many times I have ordered this burger and it is juicy, flavorful, hot, calling my name. Just a little too messy to eat free-handed without a tray beneath you. Summertime! Huge staff of waiters, indoor and outdoor seating. Giant covered patio facing the Kemah Port, a field of docked Sailboats. And Kemah’s theme park with roller coasters and rides right on the water. So fun, for those of us living farther inland. I feel like I am in a skit from High School Musical 2, summer, summer, summer! Serenity, Madison, Sarah, and Kylie. All very helpful upfront and happy. A slew of guys running around with trays in their hands and accouterments for sweeping and wiping down surfaces. I add Onion Rings because these beasts will remind you why the Onion is King! I also add Fried Pickles and Ranch, because I’m American. And finally order a Squealer Burger for my wife, because I love her. As always: the Loo Review (for my friends in the UK) Wandering back through the tight walls of, what looks like make-shift wooden walls and ceiling, like a shanty built on the waterfront, you find the bathrooms tucked, as usual, way in the back, until the actual bathroom hallway, which is very “up-to-code” clean finished mint painted sheetrock and mahogany wainscoting, just so everybody can rest assured we have your bathroom trip under control. Nothing spectacular, but bright yellow stall divider walls, and large commercial tile slabs, easy to clean with a mop, sinks, uh normal and…yep, nothing to see here… I have literally been online with friends of mine from the UK who were like, “you’re at Tookie’s!? I have heard of that place, I’m so jealous…” and they should be. You should come grab a burger and some fried treats, as well, maybe I’ll catch you there!
Jul 25, 2026 · Google ReviewGreat service, great food and great margaritas! Full stop Tookies is well know for a reason and they know how to do food, service and drinks right. When you get all those right that is a 5 star restaurant to me. The atmosphere is also wonderful, music is not too loud, menus are clear. I would prefer if the alcohol menu had the prices on there, but that's more of a nitpick than anything. My friend and I got the Sparkler Margarita and we were both impressed, even my friend who does not normally drink took a sip and loved it. I would love it as a mocktail too 🙏 I got the rodeo burger and it was delicious, it all came together nicely and the leftovers reheated well later! The tatertots were also notable and were perfectly crispy!
Jun 24, 2026 · Google ReviewWe stopped in for dinner by a recommendation of a friend. Glad we did because the food was great! 2 bacon cheeseburgers, cheese fries and milkshakes-everything was on point! Our service was a little slow give we were in there before the dinner rush. The atmosphere was definitely family friendly however if you have children with a sound sensitivity I would avoid sitting close to the train or trains not sure how many they have. The train runs along the cieling but it is very nosey.
Jul 18, 2026 · Google ReviewFood was and always is exceptional. I generally get the 99 all the way . I would like to point out I didn’t get lettuce with mine not because of the lettuce scare. I just don’t like lettuce. Also I got hula hoop onion rings. I got the fried Boudin balls with ranch and they were extremely good. Also picture it is a Heath bar shake which I was told is very good. They have quite a lot of shakes that you can pick from.
Aug 4, 2026 · Google ReviewTookie's in Kemah is definitely worth the visit. The burgers are fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right, with generous portions that leave you satisfied. The menu has a great variety, and the ingredients taste fresh. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner with family or friends. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service from the time we arrived until we left. If you're visiting the Kemah area, Tookie's is a great stop before or after spending time at the boardwalk. Between the quality of the food, excellent service, and casual Texas atmosphere, it's easy to see why it's a local favorite. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a great burger and a comfortable dining experience.
