Claudia MendozaI love Mario’s food but the service here is horrible. Twice have they messed up my orders and just now the waitress sitting down talking that has been with those people yapping instead of waiting on customers told me there was a glitches on the computer so it will be longer on the order.

Rick ReidSo many great offerings at this unique little eatery, tucked away in an unassuming strip center just steps away from the notoriously pretentious Kemah Boardwalk. First of all, they have a salad bar that was somehow teleported from 1985, that is well worth the $10 cover charge. Marinated mushrooms, pickled okra, black olives, and garbanzo beans are just a smattering of high-quality salad add-ins that make for a salad to remember. Somehow Mario’s made fettuccine alfredo that is second to none, harnessing the rich, creamy and buttery layers that only my Italian godmother could conjure up. What made me cry the most with tears of joy was the thin and crispy pizza topped with grilled shrimp, meatballs, and ricotta cheese. Andrew, the fabulous waiter had to convince me I could return anytime in the future and have this same exact pizza, anytime I wanted. It’s hardly a want — it’s a need. Mario’s isn’t playing games, but they scored huge goals tonight. I think I just unlocked a new level in Italian fare.

Mahamed dauud MahamedWe stopped by Mario's for dinner and ended up staying longer than we originally planned. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, and my favorite part was the creamy sauce and how well it coated the pasta without feeling too heavy. We were just talking and catching up while we ate, and at some point we realized we had completely lost track of time. It was nice being able to sit back and enjoy dinner without feeling rushed. It turned into a really relaxed evening, and I'd definitely come back for the pasta.
