Bright Lights, League City

Grinch-Sedona

And then the night comes alive
With lights to dazzle
And everything's extraordinary
Nothing is left ordinary

-- "A World That She Sees", Trans-Siberian Orchestra

My drive through League City has come to life during the holiday season as homes and neighborhoods have been transformed into extraordinary landscapes with millions of lights, decorations, and holiday music. With Trans-Siberian Orchestra tunes pulsing through the truck and family in tow, we set out on an adventure to visit some of the neighborhoods that have been nominated as the best for a car driving tour in League City.

From the Grinch and Mary Lou Who to Santa Claus, lighted archways to grand landscapes, League City’s top neighborhoods offers a wonderful family experience during the holiday season.

The top four neighborhoods as nominated by local residents are:

  • Sedona – Take League City Parkway west to Hobbs Rd. and make a left. Proceed past Fire Station #2 and Bauerschlag Elementary to Sedona Dr. and then let the exploration begin.
  • Westover Park – Take League City Parkway to Westover Park Ave. and make a left into the neighborhood and check out all the nooks and pockets of this festive and fun community.
  • Magnolia Creek – This neighborhood located in between the aforementioned communities is located adjacent to the Magnolia Creek Golf Course. Take League City Parkway to E Bay Area Blvd. and follow the glow to streets and homes illuminated by lights, figurines, and laser projections.
  • Hidden Lakes – The lone nominee from the east-side of League City, Hidden Lakes delivers some fun family time, with a multitude of lights and holiday scenes. Take League City Parkway or FM 646 to South Shore Blvd. and then explore areas on both sides of South Shore Blvd.

Tis’ the season to share and I can’t think of a better way to share a family-friendly experience than seeking out the best Christmas lights in our spirited community and then sharing those experiences with family, friends, and visitors.
